The Dassault Rafale is a French twin-engine multirole fighter aircraft.

In 2021, Indonesia made moves to procure 36 Rafale Fighters. Indonesia’s Defence Minister Prabowo made the deal.

Indonesia sought foreign funding for the jets as part of a military modernisation program. Defence Minister Prabowo is looking to borrow $125bn from the international community.

In February 2022, during a visit to Indonesia, French Defence Minister Florence Parly announced that Indonesia had committed to buying 42 Rafale jets, at a cost of $8.1 billion.

The Dassault Rafale is a French twin-engine, canard delta wing, multirole fighter aircraft designed and built by Dassault AviationEquipped with a wide range of weapons, the Rafale is intended to perform air supremacy, interdiction, aerial reconnaissance, ground support, in-depth strike, anti-ship strike and nuclear deterrence missions.
