Glock

CEO Gaston Glock

Glock was founded in 1963, and moved into making military products - such as knives - in the 1970s. In the early 1980s the company began to manufacturer the polymer-framed GLOCK service pistol, began exporting to the US market (opening a subsidiary in Georgia to distribute to the US market), and expanded its production facilities in Austria. The company offered large discounts to the US police departments who bought their weapons, in order to gain credibility and attract the civilian market where they could charge the full price. Many of those killed by police in the United States were killed by a Glock weapon.

Glock pistols are standard side arm issue for several branched of the Indonesian armed forces and police, or TNI and POLRI.

Through the 1990s and early 00s the company produced new versions of the GLOCK pistol, introducing rails for attaching lights, lasers, or other accessories, and GLOCK pistols began appearing regularly in films and other forms of popular culture.

The company has subsidiaries in Brazil, China, Uruguay, the United Arab Emirates,  and Venezuela.

Glock has production sites in Austria, Slovenia and the USA.
